Every Drop Leaves A Mark: Egi’s Annual Blood Donation Campaign Returns With A Year-Round Focus
This June, in recognition of World Blood Donor Day, Egi Women proudly launched the 2026 edition of our annual blood donation initiative, Pint for Purpose, under the theme “Every Drop Leaves A Mark”.
Now in its fourth year of partnership with the Barbados Blood Collection Centre, the initiative continues to raise awareness about the life-saving importance of voluntary blood donation while encouraging greater participation from Corporate Barbados and the wider community.
Shifting From Awareness To Sustainability
For the past four years, Egi Women has used its platform to encourage more people to become blood donors. Since launching this initiative, we have remained committed to supporting the work of the National Blood Collection Centre and helping to foster a culture of compassion, wellness, and service.
While awareness remains critical, this year our focus extends beyond awareness and donor recruitment to creating a more sustainable model for blood donation across Barbados. As our Founder Gina Cummins shared, the time has come to rethink how Barbados approaches blood donation.
“For the past four years, we have used our platform to encourage more people to become blood donors because we understand that every donation has the power to save lives. This year, we are taking the conversation a step further by focusing on sustainability, collective responsibility, and creating a culture of giving that lasts all year round. If organizations across Barbados each commit to one month of the year, together we can help ensure that our country always has a reliable supply of blood, not just during times of crisis.”
A Call for Year-Round Responsibility
Through the 2026 campaign we are calling on businesses, community groups, and organizations to “own a month” by committing to coordinate blood donation efforts during a designated period each year. The goal is to encourage a year-round schedule of giving beyond the campaign, that helps maintain a reliable and consistent blood supply while reducing the pressure associated with emergency donation appeals.
Throughout the month of June, Egi Women will celebrate voluntary blood donation through a series of awareness activities as part of the Pint for Purpose campaign. Special emphasis will be placed on the week of June 8-12, 2026, where donors will have access to free transportation to and from the centre by pickUP Barbados, sponsored by PwC East Caribbean. This is geared towards helping to remove barriers and increase participation.
Partnership for National Impact
Once again, for this year’s campaign, Egi Women is proud to collaborate with Sagicor, pickUP Barbados and PwC Eastern Caribbean, whose support is helping to make blood donation more accessible, convenient, and engaging. One of the most exciting developments in this year's campaign has been the commitment of Courtesy Garage Limited, The Barbados Fire Service and Lions Club of Barbados who have come on board to support this national need. Through coordinated engagement and scheduled donation efforts, these organisations are helping to move blood donation from a periodic appeal to a consistent national practice.
Commenting on their involvement in the initiative, Ms. Hannah Gill from pickUP Barbados added,
"This is the second year that pickUP has facilitated free rides for blood donors thanks to generous support from PwC. The majority of the interest came from local companies encouraging their staff members to go and donate together. This collective corporate effort is a very positive trend, and we highly encourage more businesses across Barbados to promote this act internally, year-round, as a person is eligible to donate roughly every three months.”
A Collective Call to Action
We believe that meaningful progress will require collective action. No single organization can solve this challenge alone. But together, Corporate Barbados, community organizations, and individual donors can create a sustainable framework that ensures blood is available whenever it is needed. Every pint donated has the potential to save lives, and every organization that joins this movement becomes part of that impact.
It is our hope that blood donorship will evolve into a national movement that inspires year-round giving, strengthens community connections, and helps secure a healthier future for all Barbadians.
Every drop matters, and every drop leaves a mark.
